Two of the Ards Peninsula's finest artists will be giving the public a rare insight into their work in the next ‘Artist Talks evening'. Glass Designer, Karl Harron and Visual Artist Joyce Brown will all be sharing their inspirations and the practical aspects of being professional artists, in Ards Arts Centre, Wednesday 14th November, at 7:00pm.

The Ards Arts Collective ‘Artist Talks' programme is now becoming a regular and highly popular date on the arts calendar. These quarterly events highlight the work, techniques and inspirations of some of our most talented local artists.

Portaferry's Joyce Brown is a highly established Ulster watercolourist whose imagery is largely associated with Strangford Lough, her new medium of painting, with dyes and resists onto pure silk, provokes exploration into the unique qualities inherent in these materials.

From his studio in Loughries, Karl Harron is reviving the ancient art of glass painting and fusing, with a thriving business producing one off designs in stained, kiln formed, cast and blown glass.

Organised by Ards Arts Collective in association with Ards Borough Council's Arts Service, this informal event is a great opportunity to come along and learn about a variety of art techniques and skills involved in the work of these highly talented artists, and to hear about the personal challenges and inspirations that have been part of their creative development.

A joint exhibition of the work of Joyce Brown and Karl Harron is currently showing in Ards Arts Centre.

The evening of artists' talks takes place on Wednesday 14th November from 7pm to 9pm in Ards Arts Centre, Conway Square, Newtownards and is free of charge. For further information contact the centre on 028 9181 0803.
